How Recsy works

A quick walkthrough of every corner of the app. Skim the headers, dive into what catches your eye.

Post a rec

Every rec has a title, a category, and a personal ‘why'. Add a photo (or a few), a location if it has one, and — if it's a film, book, song, restaurant or product — Recsy auto-fills reference info like ratings and cover art. You stay in control; nothing posts until you tap Share.

Quick recs

For the ‘you have to try this' moments. A photo, one line, done. Quick recs appear at the top of the feed and can be replied to inline — think Snapchat energy for recommendations.

Boards

A board is a themed collection of recs. Weekend in Lisbon. Rainy-day films. Coffee shops that let you linger. You can add your own recs and other people's — they get credited automatically.

Top 5s

Your ranked five in any category. The most honest list format ever invented, because you can't hide behind a Top 100. Top 5s show up on your profile and — if the community piles in — on the leaderboard for that category.

Deep dives

Some things deserve more than a caption. Record a short voice note or long-form write-up for a rec — perfect for that album you can't stop playing or the novel you've been forcing on everyone.

The map

Every place-based rec pinned to the real world. Filter by category, zoom into a city you're visiting, tap a pin to see who recommended it and why.

Clubs

Small private groups for sharing recs with the people whose taste you actually trust. Join via invite link. What happens in the club stays in the club.

DMs & group chats

Send a rec straight to a friend, or spin up a group chat around a shared board. No feed required, no algorithm involved.

Privacy by default

You choose who sees each rec: public, followers, a specific club, or a single friend. Location is only shared when you add it. We never sell your data. See our privacy policy for the full detail.
